Who is Luke? Luke Howard (the son of owners, John and Allison Howard) is a boy who grew up loving lawn mowers. So much so in fact, that his fascination with yard maintenance equipment inspired the name of his parents’ professional landscaping company!
But how did John and Allison get started in the landscaping business? Now, that’s a bit of a longer story…

Our Story
Raised on a 400-acre horse farm in the American heartland of Western Kentucky, John Howard developed a deep appreciation for the outdoors from an early age. He would bail hay, mow paddocks, and complete other outdoor chores, finding fulfillment in caring for the land.
As an adult, John jumpstarted a career in Corporate America. But it didn’t bring him the same satisfaction as tending to the outdoors. One day, he left his merchant services and lending job and asked Allison (his wife) if he could buy a $12,000 lawn mower. Allison was naturally skeptical at first, but she knew it would make him happy, so she told him to go for it. And he did.
It didn’t take long until John was getting paid to mow his neighbors’ lawns. Shortly thereafter, John decided to pursue his passion full time, and his LLC was born. No one was more excited by the career change than John and Allison’s son, Luke.
In 2017, Lawns By Luke LLC launched and started taking on residential and commercial clients. Five years later, Allison left her corporate job to work at the business full time. Lawns By Luke is now a full-on family affair!
Our Community
John is a member of the Western band of the Cherokee Nation based out of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The Howard family is passionate about promoting and preserving the Cherokee way of life.
